ESL is a very sociable career. It increases opportunities to build friendships and a teaching career which potentially can bridge many continents. Ultimately, ESL teaching allows you to develop deep intrinsic skills, such as leadership, outstanding communication and an understanding of learning dynamics. Plus, It’s also financially worthwhile.

TIPS TO FIND A GOOD ESL ORGNISATION

1. At PureTeach we represent a number of international schools with an excellent reputation and this is reflected in the ESL schools we represent. You should DO YOUR HOMEWORK, just to be certain the ESL organisations have a supportive and professional approach. This may include looking at Google reviews and ESL forums.

2. There should be a PROPER INTERVIEW PROCESS in place. At PureTeach we ensure we contact all our candidates via a video call and talk them through the position, application process and answer any questions they may have. After advising on the next step, giving tips and advice, we arrange an interview with the Academic Head.

3. Try as much as possible to AVOID SMALL PRIVATE SCHOOLS and stick with larger ESL organisations, schools and universities. At PureTeach, we represent three, specific, larger, organisations in China, who we know are professional and support their teachers fully.

4. This is probably obvious, but you should READ THE CONTRACT IN DETAIL and if there is anything you are unsure of, ask the HR Director to clarify. We have worked with our partner organisations over the past 18 months and know the contracts well. We never pressurise our clients – we recognise this is potentially a life changing move and time is needed to weigh up all the information. This normally includes extensive discussions with family members.

5. At PureTeach we always try to KEEP IN REGULAR CONTACT with our candidates and form a professional relationship. This helps to build confidence in the role you may be about to start and gives an extra layer of support if ever needed.

ESL teaching is an amazing opportunity, presenting you with the option to fully immerse yourself in another culture, learn new skills, build your CV, travel and get paid well!
